Who are we?

At Positive Apparel Thrift Store, we accept donations on a regular basis, and our ever-expanding inventory reflects this. Our shoppers benefit from our low prices and vast selection.

 

We offer Quality Used Clothing at affordable prices, Dollar Clothing, Kitchen and House Hold Items, Home Furnishing and Appliances, Youth Employment, Delivery Services, Pawn and Cash for Gold.

 

We support our community through sponsorships, recycling initiatives and full-time employment.

Positive Apparel is dedicated to keeping our planet green and our footprint small. You can bring your unwanted clothing, cloth items and household linens in any condition as long as they are clean and dry. We also take purses, belts, shoes, household items, furniture and appliances.

Is Positive Apparel a Charity or Not for Profit Society?

 

We are a private run family business that supports 9+ employees 

 

Over the years we have supported many other charities by providing free items including but not limited too:

Stepping Stones, Youth Center, Mental Health, Advocacy Center, Woman’s Center, Ankors, Romanian relief, Philippines project, the family place, schools and dance troops

 

We have financially supported over the years;

SAPC, Phillipe’s Project, Nelson Food Cupboard, Glacier Gymnastics, Discover Circus, Slava Dance and many other local productions and the Family Place.

 

We also help local schools who require items for hot lunch, costumes and props for plays, Books for their libraries, and craft supplies all for free.

 

Furthermore, we have support the Capitol Theater and The Co-op radio by providing free items.

 

We work with all other thrift stores in the area providing them with pick up services for their unwanted textiles allowing us to divert 38 thousand pounds of textiles out of the landfill each month from the Kootenay Boundary Area.

Donating

Please do not leave items out when we are closed. This can leaves major messes for us and our neighbors to clean up.

​

What do we take all the time?

We always take clothing and cloth items like linens in any condition, as long as they are clean and dry. This also includes re-wearable shoes, purses and belts. We always take all furniture items, small appliances, good condition DVD's and CD's.

​

What We can take a limited amount of:

Household items, due to high drop off demand. A representative will need to review any of these items before accepting them.

​

We no longer take:

-Stuffed Toys, Toys or Pillows

-Children/Baby Car Seats, Playpen’s, Baths, Baby Bouncer Chairs, High Chairs, Baby Gates, etc. due to Insurance changes.

-Books Are No longer Recyclable in BC. We can take a very small amount per week.

-Helmets due to Insurance changes.

-Flip Flops, Rubber Boots or Broken Shoes.

-Sporting Equipment.

-VHS tapes: please take to the Nelson Bottle Depot.

-Broken Electronic: please take to the Nelson Bottle Depot

-Building Supplies; please take to Habitat for Humanity

Truck Services

We do delivery's for Bears, Floyd's and Kootenai Moon. We also do free furniture Pick up within Nelson. We can asses furniture pick up from Trail to Castlegar to Kaslo on a case by case basis. We also pick up other thrift stores unwanted textiles within our established route.
